When I first met with Martin 18 months ago, I had the job I had worked for so hard for so long: I lived in the house of my dreams, in the woods with my beloved pets, away from humans. All this was my choice. Yet I was so depressed. It was not one of those chemical imbalances. Just no energy, nothing to look forward to the next day, no vision of the future, no dreams.

So I asked Martin to help me reconnect with humans, thinking that this was where I had gone wrong. He did not argue with my self-diagnostic and helped me into the basic steps towards that goal, with very practical and useful guidance. I reconnected with old friends, made new ones, became busy with trying to become part of the world of humans again. Still dreamless, but busy and seemingly happy or at least content.

Then one day Martin gave me a new assignment and two weeks to work on it. I was to identify three things I would do with my life if nothing else were to be an issue. This was hard, it took four weeks and still I felt silly with my choices, because they were so� unrealistic� or �impossible�. We started working on number one. I had to formulate it in one sentence! This was 15 months ago. Then something amazing began to take place. I began to see new coincidences, opportunities, events. All I had to do was recognize them and go from there. I still cannot explain how this all came to be, because it really felt like �luck� or �miracles�. Slowly, like pieces of a puzzle coming out of nowhere, it all started to look like I was walking towards that impossible goal.

Martin�s next scariest advice was that I position myself irreversibly on that path. To let everybody know that this was where I was headed. This way, when things got a bit shaky and scary, and they did at times, I could not disappear.

It never slowed down. In the contrary, so much has happened in a year, it is hard to believe. The difference is that now I feel a lot more in control of the �puzzle�. I can influence and shape the next turn of events. There are still plenty of surprises or coincidences along the way. But I have a vision, a dream and it makes me feel so alive.

I stopped working with Martin a long time ago, but I keep on sharing the amazement with him. Being a scientist, I need explanations. So I could rationalize this whole experience simply by saying that we only need to know what we want and it will come true. I suppose this is half true. We make it come true. But still, the way it all unfolds holds an element of magic I will never understand.

Martin, I thank you for the (coaching) support you gave me to get through the (North Carolina - Psychotherapist) licensing exam. You bolstered my confidence and helped me reconnect with my inner resources. Did I ever tell you that I did super well on the exam, like an A+? Guess it took ten years out of school to scare me off of exam taking.

Martin is extremely gifted in his field of personal coaching. When I was laid off from my tech job in the corporate world, he came alongside me and encouraged me to start my own PC Service business.
